The Story of Evolution

If you ever get the chance do watch "The Story of Evolution" on the Discovery channel. No this is not a documentary on how we evolved from apes. It tries to explore the reasons behind winning and losing, happiness and sorrow, thrill and depression.

At one point it said, we keep competing all our lives. I said to myself, "what nonsense, I have stopped competing long ago". But the very next statement was going to shake me. We back-off when we are scared of failure. We accept defeat. This is part of our bodies mechanism of protecting us from injury. We may be safe, but this makes us miserable. This leads to depression. Not that I suffer from depression, but this made me think. I had stopped competing, stopped winning, stopped living. It is right then that I made a resolve "I did better lose trying than not try at all".

Why am writing this here? Simple, so that I can't back-off on this. It said we are very cautious of what we do in public, even if we do not know the people around. I could definitely not take back something that is on my blog. Now the question is: where and for what to compete? My college festival starts today, I hope to find something there. Will keep you people updated about my quest.
